What To Bring

WHAT TO BRING TO TSEGYALGAR WEST FOR CAMPING:

  • Camping gear (tent, sleeping pad, pillow, sleeping bag, flashlight; if possible, bring both a flashlight and a head-lamp and do consider getting LED lights as these last quite a bit longer then conventional lights).
  • Clothing. It will still be “winter” in Baja California, but starting to warm up, so days can border on hot (somewhere in the 80s), while nights remain cool (in the 50s, sometimes cooler). Weather can change quickly, however, so (as is always being said, wherever you go) bring a bit of a range: long pants, long-sleeved shirts (cotton), a sweater and light jacket, some clothes for warm weather, a hat, sturdy shoes for walking, and sandals that protect the toes. I like to bring an umbrella that doubles as a parasol.
  • Toiletries, including sun block and bug goop. We and the land would appreciate it if you would bring biodegradable soap and shampoo to use in our showers.
  • Your prescription medicines, including an epipen if you have insect allergies.
  • Don’t forget your bathing suit, towel, daypack, water bottles, and rain gear in the unlikely event of rain. An alarm clock is a good idea (for obvious reasons). If you have a small set of binoculars, you might want to bring them along for wildlife viewing.

(Note: We will have filtered spring water with which to fill your water bottle[s].)

For the teachings, bring a cushion to sit on and appropriate practice materials, including socks or soft-soled shoes (like mocassins with smooth soles or ballet slippers) for doing the Vajra Dance in, and we also suggest bringing a Tun book, the base-level Santi-Maha Sangha book (Precious Vase), and pen and paper to write upon. We will have some copies of relevant books for people to look at and/or purchase and we always have a few spare Tun books for people to borrow.
