Baja Ca Sur Exploration
Tsegyalgar West is virtually a huge wilderness area in the heart of the San Jose del Cabo area mountains. We are privileged to steward and share this beautiful place, and offer a variety of natural exploratory activities. In addition to Hiking and new Wellness Programs at Tsegyalgar West there are many ways to explore and enjoy all of what Baja Ca Sur has to offer.
HIKING AND GUIDED TOURS and ECO TOURISM
Depending on retreats taking place on the property, we welcome visitors to stay in a casita; camp in designated areas; hike on selected trails; or bring a group or outdoor day tour. We can sometimes arrange for longer hikes guided by one of our rancher neighbors or eco tour group.
A National Heritage Site with Painted Rocks is on the edge of our property dated from 20,000 years ago. The painted hand printing and chevron patterns are from the Indiginous Pericú who were here before the Spanish came. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pericúes
Ancient White Fig Trees grow for hundreds of years out of the granite rock boulders in this area. Sculpted arroyo (river beds) bring fresh spring water down the mountain and create a system of underground aquifers. Clay soil from the red earth make for beautifully traditional Mexican mountain pottery. They are sold locally at various ranchos or in town and used for clay pot cooking, water jugs, bean pots and are great for roasting!
THE OCEAN REALM
Various types of endangered seas turtles nest along the shores of Baja Ca Sur. (Olive Ridley, Leatherback and Black) and are protected. Local Eco groups are working to preserve the nests. Visitors can at times seasonally participate in finding and/or releasing baby turtles back to the ocean when they hatch.
If you have extra time to explore the region here are a few links to helpful locals offering kayaking, backpacking, ocean excursions, surfing lessons, etc..
Eco Tours and Guided Activities such as surfing, whale watching, swim with whale sharks in La Paz Bay, Snorkling, Diving etc… are available!
