Airport Information - SJD

We suggest arriving the day before the first day of the retreat (the retreat will probably begin in the afternoon). And then we suggest leaving the day after the retreat finishes. We will be trying to coordinate rides, which means some people might have to hang out at the airport and wait (we will suggest a place to do so) if there are a few people arriving over a period of a couple of hours.

Book your ticket for Los Cabos (San Jose del Cabo) (airport code SJD). While we prefer not to do night pick-ups, we will if that’s necessary. There are two Airport Terminals , #1 and #3. They are 1/4 mile apart, too far to walk in the heat with your luggage. It’s very important that you and your pickup person know at which terminal you will arrive. If you don’t see your pickup person immediately, do not get cold feet and go to the other terminal. This makes finding you difficult.

Aeromexico, American Airlines, Continental, Mexicana and USAir use Terminal #1. It’s the main, older, original terminal. When you get your bags and the frosted sliding door open, you will be accosted by young men trying to get you a taxi. Say no gracias and walk forward and exit that room thru the frosted sliding doors to the left. Go through toward the “food court” looking area. Don’t exit to the right where you see strange Flintstones looking decorations. That leads outside through a different door and we won’t know you’re there. If you find yourself outside accidentally anyway, go around to the front of the building and go into the food area. That’s where you’re ride will be waiting. We can’t hold up signs or they will make us go outside.

Delta, Frontier and Alaska airlines use Terminal 3. There is no food court there, but you can buy drinks outside. Go outside past the hotel pick-up guys and you will see us.

We of course will pick you up at either terminal. If possible please email us a photo in advance to make recognizing you easier. It helps if you wear some sort of Dzogchen or buddhist shirt or jewelry. Our pickup person will do the same or hold up a Dzogchen book. Right now we don't a phone on the Gar so there's no number for you to call, but your phone will work. If you have a smartphone you can email the Gar, or call a friend in the states and have them email the Gar if needed. But we will be there to get you. Just email both Igor and Tania in the days before you arrive to make doubly sure.
